A passionate musician bringing energy and versatility to every performance
Vilmos "Chilly" Kovacs is a Luxembourg-based singer and multi-instrumentalist whose connection to music began in childhood. His first musical influence was his mother, who turned everyday routines into spontaneous singing sessions. Music has been a constant ever since.
Inspired by classmates during secondary school, he picked up his father's guitar and chordbooks and began exploring songwriting. His father, a talented singer, also started recording himself around the same time — when Vilmos was 20. Already able to play some chords, Vilmos began writing a few songs and experimenting with recording.
During university, life in student housing led to late-night jam sessions that gradually evolved into structured rehearsals and small acoustic concerts. From these sessions, Laugh and Cry was born — a rock-oriented cover and acoustic band. Along the way, Vilmos explored the bass guitar and stepped in on drums whenever needed. These experiences helped him develop a deeper understanding of rhythm and ensemble playing, and what started as simple beats quickly became an infectious passion.
In 2016, after breaking his first drum stick and sharing a photo on Facebook, Vilmos joined the alternative rock band Toldi Mike as drummer, backing vocalist, and occasional keyboardist. He appears on the albums "Pusztába kiáltott szó" and "Király!".
In 2017, Vilmos brought a bass to a jam session and met the band leader of Purple Moon, who later invited him to join as bassist. Although he was not a trained bassist, he embraced the challenge and played with the band through 2018, taking part in their live performances.
As a solo artist, Vilmos focuses on vocal interpretation and has released a few covers on YouTube, including his official version of "Hurt" by Typh Barrow.
Whether behind a drum kit, holding a guitar, or sitting at a piano, Vilmos's approach remains consistent: serve the song.
